Introduction

Web SmartConsole is a Check Point GUI application that allows you to manage your Check Point environment, including configuring security policies, monitoring devices, and installing updates directly from a web browser.

You can access SmartConsole functionality from any web browser using Web SmartConsole.

Web SmartConsole and Windows SmartConsole can run in parallel, and any published update done on one of the applications will be reflected in the other application.

The Web SmartConsole package is installed automatically on all relevant Check Point devices when Automatic Update downloads are enabled (see sk175504, section 2-B).

If Automatic Updates are disabled, you must first manually install the latest AutoUpdater Take and then install the Web SmartConsole package manually using the steps below.

To use Web SmartConsole:

Navigate in a web browser to https://<Management Server IP address>/smartconsole

Manual Installation (Offline)

Instructions:

  1. Copy the offline package to a specific directory on your Management Server.
  2. Log in to the Management Server in Expert mode.
  3. Run the installation command:
autoupdatercli install /<Full Path>/<Name of Package>

Example:

[Expert@Host]# autoupdatercli install /home/admin/Check_Point_WEBCONSOLE_AUTOUPDATE_Bundle_T59_AutoUpdate.tar
  1. On the Scalable Platform Security Group:
g_all autoupdatercli install <full path to TAR file>
  1. Verify the Installation finished successfully.
  2. Examine this log file to make sure the installation was successful: /opt/CPInstLog/AutoUpdateLogs/web_console.
  3. Look for this text: “ Installation succeeded for component web_console”
  4. Make sure that the correct Web SmartConsole Package is installed.

Run:

cpinfo –y all

You should see this bundle: "BUNDLE_WEBCONSOLE_AUTOUPDATE Take:

Note: The installation does not require cpstop; cpstart or a reboot. Once installed, no further action is required, the update will be applied immediately.

Known Limitations

Description
Web SmartConsole does not have feature parity with Windows SmartConsole.
In environments where the Security Management Server is behind NAT, login to Web SmartConsole fails.
Cluster SMB is not supported.
The login option for Multi-Domain Server Global Domain is disabled when using Web SmartConsole.
The Domain column in the Advanced Settings table under the VPN Domain tab (in the Gateway and Cluster editor) may not be updated after installing Take 155. This issue will be resolved in one of the upcoming Takes.
