# "An internal error has occurred" error when connecting to SmartConsole with DNS name

## Symptoms
- "An internal error has occurred" error when connecting to SmartConsole with DNS name.
- In the file _$FWDIR/log/cpm.elg_ you can find logs that show the log-in request fails when it is looking for a domain with the name of the DNS server (in this example, the DNS name is ux-1):  
  
  ```
  [DATE TIME] ERROR coresvc.internal.LoginSvcImpl [qtp-39232058-290]: Failed to find domain for ux-1

[DATE TIME] ERROR infrastructure.logging.DefaultExceptionLoggerHandlerImpl [qtp-39232058-290]: incident [1c5b56ed-3c2e-4fa1-a1c3-cca3e40f0eaa]:
  java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: key is null
  ```
- The issue started after installing R81.10 Jumbo HFA take 79.

## Cause
The Security Management server searches the DNS host in the _/etc/hosts_ file and receives a null answer when it tries to change the domain name to IP.

## Solution
This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

If you choose not to upgrade, as a **workaround**, you can add the management IP as host with the same name of the DNS server. Run the command in Clish:

```  
> add host name <DNS-name> ipv4-address <MGMT-IP>
```

This solution has been verified for the specific scenario, described by the combination of Product, Version and Symptoms. It may not work in other scenarios.
