Symptoms

Cause

The 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.25.26 OID, which is for fully utilized instance drops in CoreXL, is configured in the code to query every 2 seconds. This causes the CPD process to stall with the large amount of interfaces, leading to the issue.

Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

Environments with a large number of interfaces(>500) need additional tuning:

While the fix for this issue is now integrated into above mentioned Jumbo Takes, it still requires some manual modifications particularly for larger environments:

  1. Enable longer refresh intervals for cpstat in VSX:

    # echo "3600" > $FWDIR/conf/amon_vsx_refresh_interval

  2. Set the registry parameter for all VS's on the setup:

    # for VS_ID in $(/usr/bin/netns list); do vsenv $VS_ID; $CPDIR/bin/cpprod_util CPPROD_SetValue "fw1" "refresh_fw_time_long" 1 3600 1; done

  3. Perform Reboot

If you choose not to upgrade, Check Point can supply a Hotfix. Contact Check Point Support to get a Hotfix for this issue.

A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing the Hotfix.

For faster resolution and verification, please collect CPinfo files from the Security Management Server and Security Gateways involved in the case.

Hotfix installation instructions: Refer to sk168597 - How to install a Hotfix.

NOTE

This solution has been verified for the specific scenario, described by the combination of Product, Version and Symptoms. It may not work in other scenarios.
