# The CPD process consumes high CPU in a VSX environment

## Product
VSX (Traditional)

## Version
R81.10 (EOS)

## OS
Gaia

## Platform
26000

## Last Modified
2023-11-23

## Symptoms
- The CPD process consumes high CPU in a VSX environment, when SNMP is enabled.
- SNMP queries to a large number of interfaces (more than 500).

## Cause
The 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.25.26 OID, which is for fully utilized instance drops in CoreXL, is configured in the code to query every 2 seconds. This causes the CPD process to stall with the large amount of interfaces, leading to the issue.

## Solution
This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:
- [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R81.20](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R81.20/Default.htm) starting from Take 26
- [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R81.10](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R81.10/Default.htm) starting from Take 110
- [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R81](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R81/Default.htm) starting from Take 89
- [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R80.40](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R80.40/Default.htm) starting from Take 198

**Environments with a large number of interfaces(>500) need additional tuning:**

While the fix for this issue is now integrated into above mentioned Jumbo Takes, it still requires some manual modifications particularly for larger environments:
1. Enable longer refresh intervals for _cpstat_ in VSX:

   `# echo "3600" > $FWDIR/conf/amon_vsx_refresh_interval`

2. Set the registry parameter for all VS's on the setup:

   `# for VS_ID in $(/usr/bin/netns list); do vsenv $VS_ID; $CPDIR/bin/cpprod_util CPPROD_SetValue "fw1" "refresh_fw_time_long" 1 3600 1; done`

3. Perform Reboot

If you choose not to upgrade, Check Point can supply a **Hotfix**. [Contact Check Point Support](https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/contact-support/) to get a Hotfix for this issue.

A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing the Hotfix.

For faster resolution and verification, please collect [CPinfo files](http://supportcontent.checkpoint.com/solutions?id=sk92739) from the Security Management Server and Security Gateways involved in the case.

#### NOTE
This solution has been verified for the specific scenario, described by the combination of Product, Version and Symptoms. It may not work in other scenarios.
