The PPPoE interface loses its IP address after the ISP restart

Product: Security Gateways
Version: R81.10 (EOS), R81.20, R82, R82.10
OS: Gaia
Last Modified: 2025-07-06

Symptoms

Cause

When a PPPoE interface is added, it obtains a unique interface identifier ("ifn"), which is stored in the "ifn_map" database.

When the Internet Service Provider refreshes the IP address of an existing PPPoE interface:

  1. The system changes the existing PPPoE interface name in the "oftab" database.
  2. However, the changes do not reach the "ifn_map" database, which means the "ifn" identifier remains the same.
  3. The IP address change of the PPPoE interface does not reach the "ifn_map" database as well.

The difference between the two databases causes the interface issues.
