Wrong interface names on the 9400 appliance

Symptoms

• On a 9400 appliance in the Security Gateway configuration (non-Maestro) that runs with the R81.20 Take 781 image (see sk181698),

or after installing the R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 54, the interface names are mixed as follows:

• eth1 (Port 1) is called eth3
• eth2 (Port 2) is called eth4
• eth3 (Port 3) is called eth1
• eth4 (Port 4) is called eth2

After installing the R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 54, the IP address that is configured on the interface eth1 (Port 1) is assigned to Port3.

• On a 9400 appliance in the Maestro configuration that runs with the R81.20 Take 783 image (see sk181698), the interface names are mixed as follows:

• ethsBP0-01 (Port 1) is called ethsBP0-03

  • ethsBP0-02 (Port 2) is called ethsBP0-04
  • ethsBP0-03 (Port 3) is called ethsBP0-01
  • ethsBP0-04 (Port 4) is called ethsBP0-02

This issue does not affect Maestro functionality, except for the monitoring and verifier tools.

Installing the R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 54 does not resolve the issue.

Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

• Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R81.20 starting from Take 65

If you choose not to upgrade, Check Point can supply a Hotfix. Contact Check Point Support to get a Hotfix for this issue.

A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing the Hotfix.
