sk182730 - No audio during the first five seconds of a VoIP call when using SecureXL
No audio during the first five seconds of a VoIP call when using SecureXL
Product: SecureXL
Version: R81.10 (EOS), R81.20, R82
Last Modified: 2026-05-25
Symptoms
- There is no audio during the first five seconds of each VoIP RTP call (or the other side hears the audio after a delay of five seconds) when using SecureXL.
This applies to one-sided audio and no audio scenarios.
Configuring SecureXL to always forward the affected connections (F2F) to the Security Gateway does not resolve the issue.
Configuring the value 0 for these kernel parameters resolves the issue:
'cphwd_routing_interval' from the default '5' to '0':
fw ctl set int cphwd_routing_interval 0'sim_routing_interval' from the default '5000' to '0':
fw ctl set int sim_routing_interval 0 -a
Output of the
# fw ctl get int cphwd_routing_intervalcommand:cphwd_routing_interval = 5
Output of the # fw ctl get int sim_routing_interval -a command:
FW: Get operation failed: failed to get parameter sim_routing_intervalPPAK 0: sim_routing_interval = 5000
Note: You can ignore FW: Get operation failed: failed to get parameter sim_routing_interval, as this is not a FW parameter. This is a parameter for SecureXL (PPAK as seen in the output) and you must include the “-a” at the end of the second command.
Cause
Routing calculation in SecureXL takes five seconds for the data connections.
