PDPD process crashes and becomes unresponsive
Product: Identity Awareness
Version: R81.10 (EOS), R81.10.X, R81.20, R82
OS: Gaia, Gaia Embedded
Last Modified: 2026-05-26
Symptoms
- Users are unable to access resources due to access role-based policies.
- The PDP daemon is either not running or not responding to PDP command.
- In the environment, there exists an LDAP Authentication Unit (AU) with no processors for authentication.
- The fetch_by_SID feature is enabled.
- Debug lines before the crash, empty domain SID. We tried all AU but could not locate domain SID.
Cause
The issue occurred because an Account Unit lacked authentication processors. When the PDPD process tried to authenticate a user with fetch_by_SID enabled, it triggered a problematic flow, leading to a PDPD crash on every authentication attempt.
