SmartConsole "Validations" panel shows "'statusDescription' can not include html tags" after an upgrade to R82

Symptoms

• After an upgrade of the Management Server to R82, the "Validations" panel in SmartConsole shows many validation errors with this content:

  'statusDescription' can not include html tags

Example:

Cause

When a Security Gateway performs a "run-script" command, the Management Server converts the response from the Security Gateway to the XML format.
In a task notification, the internal field "statusDescription" contains HTML tags.

Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

• Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R82 starting from Take 14

If you choose not to upgrade, follow these steps:

1. Back up the current Management Database on the on-premises Management Server:

   • To back up a Security Management Server:
     1. Take the Gaia snapshot.
     2. Collect the backup with the "migrate_server export" command.
        See the R82 Command Line Interface (CLI) Reference Guide.
   • To back up a Multi-Domain Security Management Server:
     1. Take the Gaia snapshot.
     2. Collect the full backup with the "mds_backup" command.
        See the R82 Command Line Interface (CLI) Reference Guide.

2. Close all SmartConsole and SmartDashboard windows.

3. Download this SQL script to your computer.

4. Transfer this SQL script from your computer to the on-premises Management Server to some directory (for example, /var/log/).

5. Connect to the command line on the on-premises Management Server.

6. If the default shell is Gaia Clish, then go to the Expert mode.

7. Assign the 'execute' permission to the SQL script:

   chmod -v +x /var/log/remove_html_validations.sql

8. Convert the SQL script from the DOS format to the UNIX format:

   dos2unix /var/log/remove_html_validations.sql

9. Run the SQL script:

   1. On a Multi-Domain Security Management Server, go to the context of the affected Domain Management Server:

      mdsenv <IP Address or Name of Management Server>

   2. Run the SQL script:

      psql_client cpm postgres -f /var/log/remove_html_validations.sql
