# False positive SNMP power supply traps on 9000 Appliances

## Product
Security Gateways

## Version
R81.20, R82

## OS
Gaia

## Platform
9000

## Last Modified
2026-02-18

## Symptoms

- SNMP power supply traps randomly report PSU Down for approximately 10 seconds before returning to Up status, while Gaia consistently shows power supply as Up.
- No hardware issues or alerts appear in the Gaia Portal or in the "sysenv" history; power supply status remains green for extended periods.
- No business impact occurs, but monitoring accuracy is compromised.

- `# snmpwalk -c <community> -v 2c localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.6.7.9.1.1.2` shows

"Power Supply Down",  but `# cpstat os -f power_supply` shows "Power Supply Up".

`tcpdump` shows that snmp trap temporarily triggered over SNMP trap port 162:

`# tcpdump -s0 -nni <interface_name> port 162`

`tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode`

`listening on Mgmt, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 262144 bytes`

`09:19:42.704925 IP <1> > IP <2>:  V2Trap(205)  .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0=57482657`

`.1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.4.1.0=.1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.3000.5.4.1 .1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.3000.0.12.0=`

`"Power-Supply sensor 'Power Supply #2' reports 'Power-Supply down'"`

`.1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.6.7.9.1.1.2="Power Supply #2" .1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.6.7.9.1.1.2="Down"`

## Cause

Different system programs checking power supply status simultaneously caused false positive SNMP power supply trap reports, particularly affecting Quantum Force 9100 appliances with Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator R81.20.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

- [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R82](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R82/Default.htm) starting from Take 73
- [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R81.20](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R81.20/Default.htm) starting from Take 122

If you choose not to upgrade, Check Point can supply a **Hotfix**. [Contact Check Point Support](https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/.contact-support/) to get a Hotfix for this issue.

A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing the Hotfix.
