Symptoms

• Saving VSX configuration changes fails with the " Failed to extract FW1 policy details! Skipping state directory overwrite" message.

• VSX configuration appears to apply successfully on individual Virtual Systems (VSs), but the overall operation completes with errors.

• Warning persists in Virtual System Properties even after clicking "OK" without making changes.

• Core dumps are generated for the FWM process on the Security Management Server.

Cause

The error message " Failed to extract FW1 policy details! Skipping state directory overwrite." occurs when the VSX utility cannot read or extract the details of the currently installed policy from the $FWDIR/state/local/FW1/ directory.

Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

• Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R82 starting from Take 41

A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing the Hotfix.
