# Saving VSX configuration changes fails

## Product
Multi-Domain Security Management, Security Management, VSX (Traditional)

## Version
R82

## Last Modified

## Symptoms
- Saving VSX configuration changes fails with the " _Failed to extract FW1 policy details! Skipping state directory overwrite_" message.

- VSX configuration appears to apply successfully on individual Virtual Systems (VSs), but the overall operation completes with errors.
- Warning persists in Virtual System Properties even after clicking "OK" without making changes.

- Core dumps are generated for the FWM process on the Security Management Server.

## Cause
The error message " _Failed to extract FW1 policy details! Skipping state directory overwrite._" occurs when the VSX utility cannot read or extract the details of the currently installed policy from the _$FWDIR/state/local/FW1/_ directory.
