sk184534 - Excessive log entries for RADIUS users logging into Gaia Portal
Excessive log entries for RADIUS users logging into Gaia Portal
Product: Security Gateways
Version: R81.20
Last Modified: 2026-07-22
Symptoms
- When Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) users log in to the Gaia Portal on a Check Point Quantum Security Gateway running R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 98, the system generates more than 80 repetitive log entries per login in the
/var/log/messagesfile on the Security Gateway:
httpd2: has_users_passwd_expired: failed to find info about USER.
These repetitive messages make it difficult to monitor other events.
- The issue affects all RADIUS users, not just a single account.
Cause
The Gaia OS password expiration feature is designed for local users only.
When a RADIUS user logs in to the Gaia Portal, the system attempts to check the user's password expiration status. Because RADIUS users are not defined locally, the system cannot find the required information.
An issue in the log handling mechanism causes the system to write excessive messages.
Solution
This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:
- Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R82.10 starting from Take 36
