(1) Introduction

Check Point Upgrade Service Engine (CPUSE), also known as Deployment Agent [DA], is an advanced and intuitive mechanism for software deployment on Gaia OS, which supports deployments of single HotFixes (HF), of HotFix Accumulators (Jumbo), and of Major Versions.

Important Notes:

• To upgrade a Scalable Platform from R81.10 or R81.20 to R82, you must install the CPUSE Deployment Agent build 2550 or higher from this SK article.
• To upgrade a Scalable Platform from R80.20SP, R80.30SP, R81, or R81.10 to "R81.20 for Scalable Platforms", you must install the dedicated CPUSE Deployment Agent from sk177624 - R81.20 for Scalable Platforms.
• To upgrade a Scalable Platform from R80.20SP, R80.30SP, or R81 to "R81.10 for Scalable Platforms", you must install the dedicated CPUSE Deployment Agent from sk173363 - R81.10 for Scalable Platforms.

• The latest CPUSE Deployment Agent build is usually gradually released to all customers. Therefore, not all Gaia servers receive the latest build at the same time.
• Check Point always recommends to upgrade the CPUSE Deployment Agent to the latest available build in this SK article.
• It is not supported to install a lower build of the CPUSE Deployment Agent over the current build (downgrading the CPUSE Deployment Agent is not supported).

Installation instructions for the CPUSE Deployment Agent

(2-A) Check the current build of the CPUSE Deployment Agent

Follow one of these procedures:

• Instructions for the New Interface (Build 2337 and higher):

1. Navigate to the Software Updates section - click the Available Updates page.
2. Click the button Update Settings.
3. The build of the installed Deployment Agent appears in the Deployment Agent section.

• Instructions for the Legacy Interface (Build 2297 and lower):

1. Navigate to the Upgrades (CPUSE) section - click the Status and Actions page.
2. The build of the installed Deployment Agent appears at the top. Example:

• Instructions for the Expert mode

1. Connect to the command line on the Gaia server.

2. Log in.

3. If your default shell is Gaia Clish, then go to the Expert mode:

   expert

4. Run one of these commands:

   • On a Security Gateway / Management Server:

     clish -c "show installer status build"

   • On a Scalable Platform:

     gclish -c "show installer status build"

(2-B) Manually install the CPUSE Deployment Agent package

Follow one of these procedures:

• Instructions for the New Interface (Build 2337 and higher):

1. Connect to Gaia Portal and obtain the lock over the configuration database (click the lock icon at the top - near ' Sign Out').

2. Navigate to the Software Updates section - click the Available Updates page.

3. Click the button Update Settings.

4. In the section Deployment Agent, click Update Deployment Agent.

5. Click Browse for a file.

6. Select the CPUSE Deployment Agent TGZ package on your computer.

7. Click Install DA. Example:
